U.S. Climate Reference Network (USCRN) pyranometer data       Includes hourly pyranometer data from the USCRN, but with the addition of "standard deviations,"       a clear-sky insolation model, and daily integrated solar energy (kWh/day), by site and month. Analyzing historical temperature and precipitation data from Philadelphia, PA Precipitation data starting April 1, 1872; temperature data starting January 1, 1874; snow data starting October 1, 1884. Locate USHCN and USCRN sites within specified longitude/latitude "box."       You can also create .kml files for displaying these sites on Google Earth's Global map. Linking these data access applications to climate literacy principles.

• 03 November, 2014. Code clean up and new feature.
        Some code has been cleaned up; these changes are internal and do not change the output of any application. Because temperature depends on elevation, a feature has been added for extracting text and bubble graphs of site elevation. For the 1971-2000 and 1981-2010 data, where not all sites report all parameters, elevation is shown for all sites in a state. The "mean" elevation is not the average of all site elevations in a state, but (minimum elevation + maximum elevation)/2.

• 8 November, 2013. Upload bug fix for USHCN application.
        A bug in this application resulted in the year associated with temperatures and precipitation values being offset by 1 year. Data files and graphs previously created and saved should be re-done.
• 27 October 2013. Application for analyzing temperature and precipitation data from Philadelphia, PA
      A new online application has been added for analyzing data from Philadelphia, PA. The application includes a link to a document with some inquiry questions that could be applied to these data. The application generates both text and graphical output. I hope this application will be useful as a teaching tool when learning about weather patterns and climate. I may add some additional output options later. Please let me know if you find this application to be useful in your classroom.
• 9 October 2013. NOAA Climate data applications poster at the Climate Change Education Meeting
      David Brooks presented a poster introducing these applications to PIs from climate change education projects funded by NASA, NOAA, and NSF.at the CCE meeting held in Arlington, VA, 7-9 October. There was considerable interest in these data and the opportunity for simplified access provided by these applications, perhaps in response to the prominent role of data analysis in the newly released Next Generation Science Standards.
